The scheduler is used to execute tasks on set time intervals. SSP7 is shipped with 2 types of schedulers: to be installed as Scheduled Task or to run as a Windows Service. The Windows Service is the preferred option.
The downloaded Scheduler ZIP file contains these components:
To install the scheduler as a Service, go to the service or service-oracle folder and run the setup.exe available there. Follow the instruction of the installer. This will install the "SSPScheduler" service under Windows. This service is not started yet. After installation, go to the folder where the scheduler is installed and open the file "SSPSchedulerService.exe.config". Now update the database connection string in this file, like done for the other config files. Additionally, go to thew following section is the config file:
<add key="Main.ConnectionString" value="data source=SOURCE;initial catalog=CATALOG;User ID=USERID;Password=PASSWORD;persist security info=False;packet size=4096"/>
<add key="ORAMain.ConnectionString" value="data source=ORCL;user id=smtxSSP7;password=smtxSSP7;persist security info=false;"/>
<add key="ImportMaxErrors" value="500"/>
<add key="SyncMaxErrors" value="500"/>
<add key="Culture" value="nl-BE"/>
<!-- In milliseconden, 5 min = 300000; -->
<add key="TimerInterval" value="30000" />
<add key="MaximumThreads" value="2" />
<add key="CheckTasksTaskTitle" value="Check tasks"/>
<add key="SSPSchedulerWatchDogServiceName" value="SSPSchedulerWatchDog"/>
In this section, it con be configured how often the scheduler should check for open tasks. The example above shows a TimerInterval of 30000, meaning that the scheduler will check for open tasks every 5 minutes. Other settings in this section:
ImportMaxErrors: Number of error messages that are accepted during import processes
SyncMaxErrors: Number of error message that are accepted during import of persons. In case this value is exceeded, the import task will stop with a failure notification
Culture: Used to set date formats and time zone
TimerInterval: Number of milliseconds between each run of the scheduler
MaximumThreads: Number of scheduler runs that may exist in parallel. In case a task takes for example 10 minutes to complete, no other activities can be done in the same thread. In that case it would be good to have a second thread that can execute while the first thread is still running. Advices setting is 2.
CheckTasksTaskTitle: Name of the task that is configured to monitor the correct execution of tasks
SSPSchedulerWatchDogServiceName: Name of the Windows Service under which the watchdog service is running. This Service is separately documented. If the watchdog is not installed, please remove this entry in the config file.
