For various reasons it is convenient to have information available about the person that is currently logged into SSP 7. By default the person's First Name, Last Name and E-Mail address are stored. To store additional information about Persons, custom fields can be added on the User Data tab. Custom user fields can be used in Forms, Processes and Views.

Orb-Blue-Minus-24Custom User Fields

Custom fields can have their source in one of the installed adapters, LDAP or the data store. To add new custom fields click on the ADD button. Now provide a name for the custom field as it will be known within SSP 7. Then select the source of the field and finally the name as how the field is known in the source.

Below is an example on how user data fields can be combined from multiple sources:

UserDataExample

To read fields from LDAP the configuration on the LDAP tab should be configured completely. Make sure to use the exact names of the LDAP fields.

For the SM7 adapter the User Query should be defined correctly and deliver all the user data fields. The column names returned by the UserQuery should be used in the 'Data Source Fieldname' column (most right text field in custom field definition).

For the HPSD integration adapter the User Query should be defined correctly and deliver all the user data fields. The column names returned by the UserQuery should be used in the 'Data Source Fieldname' column (most right text field in custom field definition).

Data store parameters that should be used as source, should first be defined on the data store tab.

To easily identify users correctly in searches, it is possible to add user data fields in search results. Per field 2 options can be set:

The fields that have a checkbox set in this column, will be displayed on the search page by clicking clip0013.

Fields with a checkbox set in this column, will be included in the Search Person form that is used on several locations within the application. For example when selecting another user in a new request:

Orb-Blue-Minus-24RoleSets

RoleSet as described in Chapter RoleSets can be automatically assigned based on values in LDAP, Data Store or external adapters. This makes it possible to assign SSP 7 roles to users, based on information in other sources. The roles that get assigned to users through Role Sets are called dynamic roles. Dynamic in this case means that after logging out, the roles get removed from the persons profile and added again at the next login.

RoleSetUserData

The following values need to be set to make the mapping work:

Roleset

Define here which field should be used to read the RoleSet for the logged on user from. Both LDAP as integration adapters can be used here.

The value of the Roleset field...

Select how the value read in the RoleSet Field should be used to find the SSP 7 RoleSet.  The following options are available:

Option

Action

Equals

SSP 7 will search for RoleSets which name is equal to the value read from LDAP.

Contains

SSP 7 will search for RoleSets which name exists within the string read from LDAP.

Starts With

SSP 7 will search for RoleSets that have a name similar to the first part of the value read from LDAP.

Ends With

SSP 7 will search for RoleSets that have a name similar to the last part of the value read from LDAP.

NOTE: It is possible to link multiple RoleSets. When users receive more access than expected, please review these settings and check if more RoleSets get assigned than intended.

Orb-Blue-Minus-24Custom Fields Semantics

Some User Fields have a special meaning within SSP 7. To identify which User fields are mapped to this special meaning, the semantics need to be defined.
