Virtual Server Setup

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The SSP7 application can also run within a virtual server environment. This topic describes the preferred settings of the virtual client to run SSP.

These specifications take into account that SSP is not sharing the resources with different applications. Any deviations are possible but could risk the performance of the application.

The virtual client should meet the following requirements:

Processor Speed

Minimum: 2.4 GHz or faster
Recommended: 2 x 2.4 GHz

Operating system

Windows Server 2008 (R2) (x64) including Service Packs
Windows Server 2012 (R2) (x64) including Service Packs
Windows Server 2016 (x64) including Service Packs

RAM Memory

Minimum: 4 GB
Recommended: 8 GB or more

Hard Disk Space

Software package: 2 GB

Attachments storage:
Minimum: 50 GB
Recommended: 200 GB and easy to extend (depending on usage expectations)

Database size:
Minimum: 20 GB
Recommended: 100 GB or more

The database server has to be a separate (virtual) machine for optimal performance. The specs are overall the same, but if the database server is shared with different applications, the hardware requirements are higher. The local DBA should be able to provide an estimation in that case.

If SM7, SD45 or any other third party application is used, it is assumed that these are running on a separate (virtual) server and a fast network connection to the SSP server is available.
